24 October 2017 - Futsal Tournament
In October 2017 I joined the futsal team called mustangs. After joining the team we were offered to join a tournament at Sekolah Lentera Indonesia which we joined. Our first match was with Sekolah Lantera which we had on the 24th of October. The match did pretty well, though we did not win, we did better than expected and ended up with a 1-1 draw. However we did have some problems in managing with the tournament. The problem was that we did not have a adult supervisor at the time, However soon after a supervisor would come and the tournament continued. Learning from our mistakes we should be more careful in planning in the future.
25 October 2017
Today's match was against the school Heritage. I participated in the game by taking in the position of defender and had fun playing in that role as I enjoy trying to keep the goal safe from scores. We were able to win the game by 10-1 and were very proud for our win, at first we did not completely expect us to win, but we did not give up and persisted to finish the game. This was one of my favorite matches and the most proudest too.
27 October 2017
The next day we had a match against High scope. The match did not end up well with us losing in 11-1. We were put down by this lost however we did not give up and kept on striving for more. Prior to the match we also had problems with transportation. Since the 2 buses that were supposed to drop us off did not arrive we had to use our own personal cars which could only fit the main team of 5. This resulted for the other players to come in 6 minuets late to the match and so at the start we had a rough start, breaking our spirit. Once the other team arrived we could start switching and restart our momentum.
28 October 2017
This was our last match and was the decider for us to either land on 4th place or 3rd place if we were to win. The game was fought hard and me and many of us were very exhausted to be competing. We had the early lead at the start but as we began to lose stamina they were getting more goals in. At this point I was very nervous as we really wanted this win. So our teammates and I never gave up and won in the late game at 7-5. This brought us to 3rd and later took our trophy. The game felt like it wont stop and everyone was exhausted, though afterwards we went to McDonald had a nice meal and felt better afterwards.
15 January 2018 - Futsal Training
This was the first day of our training after the competition and we were excited what would happen. Our couch is Mr. Peter and he started us off a few laps around the court. After running we would practice our passing by doing passes up and down a line then we did monkey in the middle. Every time we missed a pass we would need to do a lap. After doing practices we would do a friendly match. This day was very fun especially for the first day though I was very exhausted by the end of the match and felt demoralized to continue, though I forced my self to keep on coming.
22 January 2018
Our next practice was the same like last practice but this time we had to get it perfectly. We practiced the passing and if we failed in a certain number of tries we would need to run again. Though we did fail time to time, we could see that we were improving compared to last practice. This showed us that over time we can improve and become better. As usual we also did a friendly match at the end of the practice and do a few laps at the start with stretching, which would be the norm for most of our practices.
29 January 2018
Additional to our daily routines our main task was to practice our shooting skills. These practices included a one on one shooting with a goalie and a receive a pass then score practice. If we were to miss we would need to run 1 lap. This practice was pretty difficulty for me as Im not very good at shooting, especially since im a defender. Though I should be kept versatile and through this I learnt a lot of new abilities.
5 February 2018
Like last practice, today's practice we practiced on shooting. Additional to last practice we also practiced shooting at a goal while running. Most of these practices were quite difficult for me though I can see myself improving from last practice, since this time I know and learnt the proper technique in how to shoot.
12 February 2018
This practice we practiced for defending and scoring. The drill consisted of 2 attackers who have to score a goal through 2 defenders and a goalie. I was excited for this as it would help me out for my position as defenders and I really enjoy this practice as it also brought something new. Though I was really tired after the practice and did not feel like doing the friendly match but I still pushed my self to join.
19 February 2018
Same like last week this practiced for defending and scoring. Additional from last week's drill we also tried for 2 attackers versus 1 defender and goalie. This practice really helped me know what to do when there are two attackers attacking and only me as a defender, as this would sometimes happen in the match and I would never know how I should properly react to the situation. Overall this day was fun, but as always exhausting.
26 February 2018
This practice we did a full on match which lasted 1 hours and 30 minuets. This allowed people who normally stay in benches to join in games and practice and helped us improve in our positions. I didn't enjoy this practice as much as the others because the match part of the practice is quite boring for me as we already do this in our own time and the most exhausting. I much prefer to do normal practices as I seem to learn more and enjoy more with being less exhausted at the end of the day.
5 March 2018
Like last week today's practice was a full match. This time we used more tactics that came from us than to the coach to home our skills in strategy. This taught me a lot about the theory behind futsal and what to do in the heat of the battle. Despite this, like last practice, I did not enjoy it as much as the other practices and were especially exhausted at the end of the practice.
12 March 2018
Today was our last practice and we did a mixture of all the practices we did. For the passing we were able to that extremely well and could do the up and down passing in one go. Afterwards we practiced the shooting then defending, which we could also see improvements. The practice was a nice refresher after the past two practices and really showed us how much we had improved over the weeks. Of course after the practice we had our last friendly match which we would play.
Final Reflection
For the futsal tournament, I learned a lot about my self. At first I never really know what I was good at futsal, or what position I should be. However after our first tournament when I went into the field, my coach told me I was very good in defending and everyone was very supportive in this too. This really motivated me to continue doing futsal as I have a sense of importance, since most of my sporting games I normally stay as bench. In one of the games the coach put me as the main team, being on of the defenders, and would officially be part of the main team, having the nickname "crazy legs". Overall I was really happy for this tournament and was very proud for our 3rd place as at first I didn't think we would make that far and even for myself, but in the end we got 3rd place and I got to be part of the main team.
For our futsal practices I had a lot of fun practicing my defending, shooting and passing, especially with my team. I learned a lot through training mainly for shooting and passing as for the longest time I never truly know how to pass and shoot properly, but now I do. I also learned tactics as now I have learnt how to react when 2 attackers are trying to take a goal, when I am the only defender. However at times I was demotivated by how exhausting these practices were and in times disrupted me in doing my homework as I had less time at home if I were to take a rest. Despite this I kept on continuing to do my practices and did not regret missing out on this opportunity.
